Contact Us Page Best Practices and Why Google My Business Matters

Does a ‘Contact Us’ need a strategy behind it? Once you add the details to your location, number to contact and that should be sufficient right? Time to break it to you, that in this current age, absolutely not. Though, we know you do not need another article advising you on the value of a ‘Contact Us’ page.

What we would like to share is that there are plenty of ways to give your audience or potential customers the possibility to get in touch with you, but it is very important to remember that nowadays your customers expect more than ever before from their virtual experience hence user experience is key within this context.

Here’s a rule-of-a-thumb checklist for you to ensure that you’ve got the best practices up on your website.

  • An email and phone number so that the visitors could instantly find the required information.
  • A short form that uses fill that will help you understand who’s contacting you.
  • Be sure to link your active corporate social media accounts like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to give visitors a way to engage with your business outside of a form option.
  • Always be sure to redirect your form to a thank-you page upon submission so they know when and how you’ll be contacting them.

Additionally, besides having a ‘Contact Us’ page on its own, a suggestion that we would imply is to have a footer form. This approach can be highly effective as it cuts away an action of the viewer experience on your website. Simply put, add a contact form in your website’s footer therefore turning every page into a contact page.

This is why you’re seeing a lot of call-to-actions form on websites  these days (including ours!)- There’s no reason you can’t have both. Now that the structure is done, let’s look into a foundation that you ought to be taking its full advantage. We truly believe that Google My Business (GMB) is an essential tool for businesses today and for the future. We see it as a social network for businesses, and as business owners ourselves, we grasp its benefits.

Think about a user experience online, even ourselves as an example, when we are searching either a service or product, we go to google and search for what is out there, and with just that, there is really no other more impactful reasoning to be a part of it- and that is Google Maps. Having a Google My Business listing also means you would have a chance of featuring in the main Google results when someone does a local search, the best part of course is that it is also free, similar to your Linkedin or Facebook account. All you need to do is register, fill in your details, upload photos and verify your business.

So, How Do You Embed your Google My Business listing onto your Website?

1. Go to Google.com/maps and Search Your Business Name

2. Click the “Share” Button

3. Select “Embed a Map”

4. Click the “Copy HTML” Blue Link

5. Add the HTML Code to Your Website and your website is good to go!

Also, don’t forget to add in Photos on your Google My Business (GMB) listing too! Upon verification on your locations, adding photos adds into the social proof of your business and thus increasing your visibility further. It is important to make a first big impression when someone lands on your GMB listing.

Besides logo and cover photos, it is best to upload category-specific photos such as:

  • Exterior: For your audience to recognize the establishment
  • Interior/Common Areas: The atmosphere of your business
  • Photos at Work/Team Photos: Capturing the warmth of your team
  • Product Photos: List down a few of your most-wanted
  • Food & Drink Photos: If you have a menu, this is the perfect opportunity

For Purpose/Built Agency, we added photos of our:

  • Exterior: Location in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, our office is right at the centre of known landmarks in-between KLCC and Pavilion.
  • Interior: Our common space is definitely a cosy sitting for meetings, with an in-house barista, what more could one ask for?
  • Product-Photo: We may not be selling items but we share across our services for a better understanding on the type of agency we are.
